Expulsion, flight, exile: In order to contrast the devastating consequences of the war in Ukraine, which has now been going on for more than half a year, with a narrative of solidarity, the Office Ukraine has, by the invitation of FLUC, organised an exhibition and music program of Ukrainian artists and musicians who have fled their country.
Four Ukrainian artists and artists collectives, currently living in Austria, Germany and the Netherlands and affiliated with Office Ukraine present their works on billboards outside of FLUC. Different approaches, working methods, techniques and thematic focuses of Alina Haieva & Karina Haieva, Alexandra Kadzevich, Maryna Shtanko and Socia Collective (Arthur und Igor Spassky) represent a small selection of the diverse contemporary art scene in Ukraine.
With the musician Heinali, the artist and VJin Svitlana Zhytnia and the visual artist and musician Anatoly Belov / Cybele, three influential protagonists of the current Ukrainian club scene will also play a live set at FLUC on September 8.
With the series разом razom together, the FLUC, together with the Office Ukraine, focuses on artistic positions that deal, among other things, with fundamental aspects of being, with flight in a broader sense, one’s own culture and one’s own body.
»Office Ukraine. Shelter for Ukrainian Artists« is a civil society initiative by cultural institutions that was set up due to the war against Ukraine and the plight of many cultural workers. It serves as a liaison between Austrian civil society and institutional initiatives and Ukrainian artists arriving in Austria.
»Office Ukraine« was created in cooperation with civil society, BMKÖS, tranzit.at, BMEIA , < rotor >, springerin, Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen, MuseumsQuartier Wien and other initiatives and runs three offices in Vienna, Graz and Innsbruck.
