Ukrainian multimedia artist Anton Lapov, who is living and working as Artist in Residence in the MuseumsQuartier in July 2025, will present his completed and ongoing projects in an artist talk.
Ukrainian multimedia artist Anton Lapov, who is living and working as Artist in Residence in the MuseumsQuartier in July, will talk about his experience working in the artistic community of pre-war Donbas.
East-Ukrainian Complex will reflect on several completed and ongoing projects, situating them within a broader narrative about the marginalized art and music scenes in Luhansk and Donetsk from the early 1990s to the present.
Special attention will be given to the non-institutional ways in which artists in Donbas have organized themselves, fostering resilience and mutual care amid more than a decade of war and upheaval.
This event continues Lapov's ongoing research into the history of Donbas art, previously shared and published in various contexts.
We cordially invite artists, researchers, cultural workers, and anyone interested in contemporary art and the cultural history of Eastern Europe to take part in the discussion in Room D in the MuseumsQuartier.
